Olathe, KS — An SUV plowed into the side of a fast food restaurant, causing an employee to suffer grease burns to over half of his body. The SUV hit the Church’s Chicken on North Claiborne Road in Olathe on Sunday, August 21, 2011, reported KMBC.

Gary Cifuentes sustained burns to his neck and back when the SUV drove into the side of the Church’s Chicken. Cifuentes was reportedly standing in front of the deep fryer when the accident occurred. The impact of the crash caused the hot grease to fly out of the fryer and cover Cifuentes.

Responding emergency crews rushed Cifuentes to KU Hospital where he is in critical condition.

“You would never wish this upon anybody,” said Church’s Chicken Vice President Steve Branco to KMBC. “It’s just very shocking. I’ve been in the business for 17 years, and I’ve never seen anything this dramatic before.”

Police are investigating the SUV crash and what caused the woman to lose control of her vehicle. No charges or arrests in connection with the crash have been filed as of yet.
