Los Angeles, CA — Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has filed a lawsuit against Old Navy over a Kim lookalike singer-model who appeared in a popular Old Navy ad. Kardashian’s lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages as well as barring Old Navy from using a lookalike in future advertisements, reported US Magazine.

According to the lawsuit, Kardashian claims that because Old Navy used a lookalike—singer-model Melissa Molinaro—in advertisements that began airing in February, it violated her publicity rights. In addition, consumers may also start believing Kardashian herself in endorsing the retailer, when she isn’t.

“She’s protecting her brand ..She can’t let another brand use her image to sell clothes!,” stated a source close to Kardashian to US Magazine.

The lawsuit filings stated Kardashian “has invested substantial time, energy, finances and entrepreneurial effort in developing her considerable professional and commercial achievements and success, as well as in developing her popularity, fame, and prominence in the public eye.”
