Manhattan, NY — A yellow cab hit a 10-year-old in Morningside Heights on Wednesday evening, July 6, 2011. The automobile accident occurred just after 7:30 p.m., on LaSalle Street between Broadway and Amsterdam, reported 7online.com.

According to police officials, Jaden Torres, 10, was playing in the street when a yellow cab hit the boy and pinned him under a parked car.

Two witnesses, both named Sabrina, rushed to the aide of the boy, who was still barely alive. The two women then lifted the car off the boy and pulled him to safety.

Responding emergency crews rushed him to an area hospital where he’s in serious condition, but is expected to survive.

It is unknown why the yellow cab hit the boy or if police charged him for the accident.

Investigations are underway.
