Pittsburg, KS — Fall hazards have prompted a nationwide voluntary product recall of Adventure Playsets wooden swing sets by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Adventure Playsets. The CPSC announced the product recall on June 29, 2011.

The recall was enacted after discovering that the wood in the posts of the fort sections on the swing sets can weaken as a result of the wood rotting, which poses a fall hazard to consumers.

Adventure Playsets has received one report of a fall while using the playset, which resulted in injuries, which included bruises and scratches.

The CPSC reported, “The swing sets come with swings, slides and ladders. Each set has a fort structure that uses green or cranberry colored plastic coated 2”x 4” wood upright posts and a green nylon fabric covered shade. The sets were sold under the following names: Bellevue, Bellevue II, Belmont, Durango, Durango II, Sedona, Tacoma, Tacoma II, Ventura, Venture II and Yukon. The name is printed on the manufacturer’s instructions that came with the play set.”

For all recalled swing set names, model numbers, names of the retailer and the year the playset was sold can be found at: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml11/11262.html

Consumers have been advised to contact Adventure Playsets to receive a free repair kit, which include appropriate angled or vertical upright posts for each model playset with instructions for dissembling and reassembling each set.
