MI Industrial Accident: Welder, 48, Crushed at Clawson Tank Company

Independence Township, MI — A welder was killed in an industrial accident at the Clawson Tank Company on Thursday, June 23, 2011. The fatal industrial accident occurred in the 4100 block of White Lake Road at around 10:13 a.m., reported the Detroit News.
According to police officials, a 48-year-old welder identified as Allen Rommell of Waterford Township, was climbing out of one of the tanks when he was crushed between the tank and the I-Beam rails it was resting on.
Rommell sustained critical abdomen injuries as a result.
Responding emergency crews rushed Rommell to Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc and had to be revived during transport when he stopped breathing.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be investigating the fatal industrial accident.
It is currently unknown what caused Rommell to become crushed between the tank and beam.
