Phoenix, AZ — Police have found the leg of a pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the rooftop of a nearby Mesa building. The pedestrian was hit at around 2:30 a.m., Sunday, June 19, 2011 and when police found no evidence of the man’s leg after finding the suspect’s car, they returned to the scene and finally located the man’s missing limb, reported MSNBC.

According to police officials, the pedestrian was hit in the 400 block of west Broadway Road, as he and another man were walking to their nearby apartment after leaving a bar. An eastbound car hit the two men and fled the scene.

One man was killed, and the other sustained serious injuries.

In a statement issued on Thursday, police said they found the lower-left leg of the victim on the rooftop of Uncle Bob’s Storage, located at 545 W. Broadway Road, about 160 feet from the point of collision.

Jose DeJesus Padilla-Rodriguez, 23, was later arrested and acknowledged that he had stuck two pedestrians and did not stop to help them. He is facing two counts of failure to stop at a serious injury or fatal collision and two counts of failure to remain at a serious injury or fatal collision, which are both felonies.
