Piermont, NY — A federal sexual assault lawsuit claims a hazing ritual at the Piermont Firehouse last summer resulted in a 17-year-old Orangeburg boy of being sexually assaulted. The sexual assault lawsuit was filed in a White Plains federal court, reported the Democrat and Chronicle.

According to court filings, back in August Piermont Fire Engineer Michael Bettman of Sparkill and two other young volunteers, Dan Goswick Jr. and Sam Kropp, held the then 16-year-old volunteer in his chair against his will. The teen was then forced against his will to place his hand on and fondle the genitals of the other firefighters.

The name of the plaintiff is being withheld. The sexual assault lawsuit named the village of Piermont, along with the firehouse as the defendants.

The defendants were charged in September with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment. Goswick and Kropp were charged as minors.

The case is still pending.
