Davenport, IA — One child was rushed to a local hospital, after a Davenport school bus slammed into at least six parked cars near 6th and Warren streets. The school bus was headed west on 6th Street, when the bus hit the vehicles just after it crossed the Warren Street intersection at 7:10 a.m., Monday morning, May 23, 2011, reported the Quad City Times.

According to Davenport police, the school bus sideswiped four vehicles which caused a chain reaction, with one vehicle pushed onto the curb, as another was spotted rolling down Vine Street where it hit a van. Eight vehicles, including the school bus, were damaged in the crash.

There were reportedly about 15 children on the bus at the time of the automobile accident. The students were taken to Jefferson Elementary School, where one child was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The victim reportedly stated that their neck was hurt. The bus driver and other students were uninjured.

The bus driver, Jessica R. Kern, 32, of Davenport was cited by police officers for failure to maintain control of a vehicle.
