Midland County, TX — One man is in critical condition and two others were treated and released after a well-servicing unit collapsed on Friday, May 13, 2011. The industrial accident occurred at around 10:35 a.m., in the 6700 block of East Highway 158, reported the Odessa American Online.

According to officials, the three TEC Well Services employees were at well-site Benners 37#1, when a pulling unit with a truck-mounted mast collapsed while the workers were trying to remove rods out the hole.

A witness reported seeing one conscious worker walking around following the accident, while the other two were unconscious, with one hanging from the pulling unit.

Responding emergency medical crews rushed Sergio Torres, 28, in critical condition to University Medical Center Hospital in Lubbock. The two other workers, identified as Johnny Trevino, 36, and Joel Baeza, 38, were treated and released Friday. All three of the injured workers were originally transported to Midland Memorial Hospital before being transferred.

OSHA is likely to conduct an investigation into the industrial accident.

Investigations are underway.
