Worker Killed in Machinery at Bangor Township Parts Plant

Bangor Township, MI — The man who was killed at a Bangor Township parts plant Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 2011, has been identified as Paris D. Prater. The fatal industrial accident occurred at Schmidt Industries at 3290 Patterson Road at around 12:40 p.m., reported MLive.com.
According to officials, 58-year-old Prater was working on a metal lathe machine, when his clothing became entangled and was subsequently pulled into the machinery.
Fellow coworkers managed to pull Prater from the machinery before rescue crews arrived at the scene. He was then rushed to Bay Regional Medical Center, where attending doctors pronounced him dead a short time after arriving at the hospital for treatment.
The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be looking into the fatal industrial accident.
Investigations are underway.
