PATH Train Crash in Hoboken Injured 34 People

Hoboken, NJ — Dozens of people were injured when a PATH train crashed while pulling into a Hoboken train station on Sunday, May 8, 2011. Officials have sited a mechanical failure as the cause of the accident, reported NJ.com.

According to officials, the train crash occurred just before 9 a.m.

Details surrounding the accident are limited, but sources reported 34 people were injured in the crash.

None of the injuries in the crash was considered life-threatening, which included cuts and bruises. The victims were taken to three area hospitals for treatment.

PATH train service is currently suspended as result of the crash, according to Port Authority officials.

Investigations are underway.
