Granville, OH — A construction worker was airlifted following a construction accident at Denison University Monday morning, April 25, 2011. The accident occurred in Ebaugh Hall shortly after 10 a.m., reported the Lancaster Eagle Gazette.
According to Granville Township Fire Chief Jeff Hussey, a plumber was working on a fire sprinkler system at Ebaugh Hall when the system ruptured, causing a pipe to hit the man in the face.
Responding emergency crews rushed the worker to Ohio State University Medical Center for treatment. Medical technicians reported that he was semi-conscious at the scene.
Ebaugh Laboratories, which houses the university’s chemistry and biochemistry departments, was undergoing a 17-month renovation and was slated to open in fall 2011, reported the Denison University website.
It was not reported if the U.S. Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) would be investigating the construction accident.
