Rockville, MD — Pacific Trade International and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has voluntarily recalled about 615,195 tea light sets for fire and burn hazards. The CPSC announced the product recall on April 20, 2011.

The product recall was issued after discovering that the clear plastic cup around the candle can melt or ignite, which poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

“The recall involves tea lights sold under the brand names Chesapeake Bay Candle and Modern Light. The candles are various colors. They were sold in sets or with tea light containers. Tea lights from the below sets are involved with this recall. Only tea lights that do not have any lettering imprinted on the bottom of the tea light cup are included in this recall,” reported the CPSC press release.

Consumers are advised to return the candle to the place of purchase for a store merchandise car equal to the purchase price of the candles.

For more information concerning the product recall, consumers can contact the Pacific Trade International at (800) 331-8339 between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit their website at http://www.chesapeakebaycandle.com.
