Kentucky Worker, 50, Crushed by Granite Slab at KBR Manufacturing

Louisville, KY — A female employee at KBR Manufacturing was killed in a workplace accident at the business Monday afternoon, April 11, 2011. The fatal workplace accident occurred in the Watterson Park area at 3899 Produce Road just after 4 p.m., reported WAVE.
According to MetroSafe, the victim was identified as Sylvia Walters, 50, of Taylorsville, KY. She was found underneath a piece of granite that fell as it was being moved at the business. Fellow co-workers found Walters and immediately called 911.
Responding emergency crews pronounced Walters dead at the scene. A deputy coroner reported that Walters died from blunt force injuries.
Louisville Metro Police are treating the death as a workplace accident. Investigators with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be conducting an investigation.
An autopsy will be completed by April 12.
