Littleton, NH— A tour bus crash on Interstate 93 injured 23 people, five seriously, when it slid off the icy and snow-covered highway on Monday, March 21, 2011. The bus accident occurred just after 8 p.m., as the bus was headed to Boston from Quebec, reported the Union Leader.

According to police officials, the 23 injured victims were rushed by emergency crews from across northern New Hampshire and Vermont to area hospitals, including Littleton Regional, Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster and Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital in St. Johnsbury. Five of the 23 injured passengers were seriously injured in the collision. Eleven of the victims are being treated for lesser injuries, while 7 others are being treated for minor injuries.

Only two of the 25 people on board the bus were uninjured in the crash. The passengers on the bus were reportedly visiting from Korea.

The bus, operated by PRT Tours or Ridgefield, N.J., was traveling south on the interstate when the bus driver lost control, causing the bus to roll onto its side and into the median.

A full investigation into the bus accident is underway.
