Glenwillow, OH– About 142,000 Hoover® WindTunnel Canister Vacuums were recalled on February 9, 2011, by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Hoover Inc. for fire and shock hazards the product poses.

The product recall was initiated after becoming aware that the power cord between the power nozzle and the wand connector can short-circuit, which poses a shock and fire hazard to consumers. If the vacuum is shut off, but still plugged in, the vacuum can short-circuit.

“This recall involves the Hoover WindTunnel Bagless Canister Vacuum model S3755. The vacuum is silver and black in color, and comes with a power nozzle. The model number can be found on a label on the bottom of the canister,” according to the CPSC press release.

Consumers are advised to contact Hoover to receive a free repair.

For further information concerning the recall, consumers can contact Hoover toll-free at (888) 564-2066 2066 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit their website at www.hoover.com/windtunnelcanisterrecall.
