Buena Park, CA—A daughter hit and killed her mother outside a Buena Park nursing home on Monday, January 3, 2011. The 71-year-old woman was struck at 11:20 a.m., on a residential street, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Police reported that Boon Soon Yang was waiting to be picked up outside the assisted-living facility on Melrose Street, where she lived with her daughter, Sung S. Lim, 47, of La Mirada. Lim reportedly tried to make a left turn or a U-turn to pick her mother up curbside, when the accident occurred. While making the turn, Lim’s 2011 Audi A6 Quattro was hit by a 2005 Honda Civic, driven by Priya Shah, 19, of Buena Park. The impact of the crash caused Lim’s vehicle to jump the curb and pin Yang against a wall.

Shah was reportedly driving within the 30-mph speed limit.

Responding emergency crews rushed Yang to West Anaheim Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Neither Lim nor Shah was injured in the collision.

The fatal automobile accident is under investigation. Alcohol has been ruled out as a factor and neither driver was cited at the scene.
