San Diego, CA—Police officers are investigating the mysterious death of a 16-year-old girl who suddenly died after getting out of a hot tub at a Tierrasanta apartment. The teenager was found on the living room floor of an apartment in the 5100 block of Via Valarta at around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2010, as reported by KSWB.

Emily Palmeter and her 16-year-old female friend were reportedly visiting two men, ages 18 and 19, at the apartment, which belonged to one of the men’s mother. They were apparently in the complex’s hot tub, when Palmeter and one of the guys got out and walked into the apartment. Just a few minutes later, the man came back out to the hot tub and said that Palmeter was in medical distress.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy on Palmeter’s body on Sunday, but they were unable to uncover a cause of death. Toxicology tests have been ordered, but it can take several weeks to receive the results.

Palmeter did not have any life-threatening illness or exhibited signs of trauma on her body.

Homicide detectives are investigating the death. There is no evidence of any foul play, according to police officers.
