North-Central Okla. School Bus, Pickup Truck Crash Injures 7

Kildare, OK—A pickup truck and school bus collision sent at least seven people to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to critical on Tuesday, November 9, 2010. The automobile crash occurred around 3:36 p.m. on Pecan Road in north-central Oklahoma, as reported by NTV.

According to the Oklahoma State Patrol, a pickup truck driven by Clifford Barney of Arkansas City was traveling southbound on Pecan Road, when he failed to yield to a stop sign and subsequently slammed into the school bus.

The school bus was transporting 16 students and the bus driver at the time.

Five students were rushed to Ponca City hospital for treatment of their injuries. The injured students have reportedly been released from the hospital.

Barney was airlifted by a medical helicopter to a Wichita hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Barney is reportedly in critical condition.

A passenger in Barney’s truck, Hilda Slaight, of Arkansas City, Kan., was transported to Ponca City hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

A full investigation into the school bus crash is underway.
