Santa Clara County, CA—Two women are dead after their vehicle veered off Highway 101, and hit several trees on Saturday, Oct. 30. The fatal automobile accident occurred around 7:45 a.m., near the Blossom Hill Road exit, as reported by the San Jose Mercury News.

The victims were only identified as female residents of Fresno, ages 20 and 21. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office has yet to release their identities.

The California Highway Patrol reported the driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old male, was driving a 2000 Infinity sedan at around 70 mph, when the vehicle switched lanes and subsequently veered off the highway, slamming into several trees.

The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

One person, who would only identify himself as a San Jose firefighter, said he helped to remove two deceased bodies from the wreckage. The driver managed to pull himself from the vehicle. A Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office investigator corroborated the man’s claims.

It is unknown if drugs and/or alcohol were factors.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact the CHP’s San Jose office at 408-467-5400, ext. 340.

Investigations are underway.
