Wausau, WI—A construction accident in Mosinee left a 54-year-old man in critical condition on Thursday, November 11, 2010. The man was operating a piece of machinery at 404 Fifth Street at around 8:40 a.m., when the accident occurred, as reported by the Wausau Daily Herald.

The Mosinee Police Department reported Rocky Hanson was driving a compacting machine when a portion of the ground near an excavated area gave way, causing the machinery to roll down an embankment. Hanson was found trapped underneath the compacting machine.

Hanson was rushed by responding emergency medical crews to Wausau Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained in the construction accident. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to arrive at the scene to conduct a full investigation.
