Los Angeles, CA– A hit-and-run in Sherman Oaks left a pedestrian dead on Tuesday, October 19, 2010. The accident occurred at around 3:40 p.m. on Woodman Avenue near Addison Street, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported the victim was crossing in the middle of the block, when a burgundy sport utility vehicle struck the pedestrian. The SUV then sped from the scene without stopping to help the fatally injured pedestrian.

The victim was identified as a boy between the ages of 14 and 16-years-old.

Later updates indicated that the driver of the SUV, a 20-year-old woman, drove for a couple of blocks before flagging down two police officers. She told them that she thought she had hit someone. Police originally reported the incident as a hit-and-run.

The woman was taken into custody and was being questioned by police officers.

A full investigation is underway.
