Las Vegas, NV– A two-school bus and car collision sent three teenagers to the hospital on Friday, November 5, 2010. One bus driver was cited for the three-vehicle accident, which took place around 6:45 a.m. at N. Alpine Ridge Way and Launch Pad Ave., just a few blocks from Centennial High School in the northwest, as reported by 8 News Now.

One victim, identified as 16-year-old Sean Cervantes told reporters, “I guess the bus rear-ended us, and kind of slammed us and I guess we spun or something. I cant really remember the impact, but I heard the other two girls screaming and one of them saying ‘the car was on fire,’ and my immediate reaction was to get everyone out, I couldn’t open the door, so I ended up kicking and kicking and kicking.”

Cervantes suffered a broken thumb in the accident. Cervantes, the driver of the car and another occupant were rushed to University Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

The driver of the car, Emily Walters, 16, was discharged from the hospital with minor injuries. The other occupant, Simone Smith, 16, suffered a broken back and ankle. Smith is also expected to be discharged shortly.

One bus driver was cited by police officials for failure to take due care. No one on the bus was injured.

The victims and the students on the bus are Centennial High School.

An internal investigation is being conducted by the Clark County School District.
