Tampa, FL—A Thursday night, November 4, 2010 collision involving two vehicles and a HARTline bus, resulted in one fatality and left one other person injured. The deadly accident occurred before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Nebraska and Sligh avenues in Tampa, according to information provided by the St. Petersburg Times.

Reports indicated Daniel M. Ray, 37, was driving his Nissan Xterra southbound on Nebraska Ave., just as Sonia Sofia De Jesus Serrano, 46, was operating a Toyota Matrix in the eastbound lanes of Slight Ave.

For unknown reasons, the vehicles collided, consequently propelling the Serrano’s Matrix into the side of a parked HARTline bus. Though the unidentified driver and 12 passengers occupied the bus at the time, no injuries were reported.

Serrano, on the other hand, was sadly killed in the multiple-vehicle collision. Reports did not specify whether emergency medical services (EMS) personnel initially transported her to an area hospital.

Ray was apparently rushed to Tampa General Hospital to be treated for serious injuries sustained in the crash. By early Friday morning, Ray was reportedly listed in stable condition.

The junction of Nebraska and Sligh avenues remained closed for several hours after the accident, due in part to the fact the Matrix’s gas tank ruptured.

It was not yet known if any charges would be filed in connection with the fatal Tampa crash. Investigations are expected to be underway.
