Washington, D.C.—JAKKS Pacific® and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is reannouncing the recall of 516,000 Spa Factory Aromatherapy Fountain & Bath Benefits Kits. The CPSC advises consumers to only use jars that have lids with vent holes.

The recall was originally announced in January 1009. But since the recall was initiated, there have been reports of additional injuries that have been caused by the children’s products.

According to the CPSC press release, “Pressure from the buildup of carbon dioxide in the jars of Bath Bombs/Balls or Bath Fizzies that come with the kits can cause the unvented lids to blow off, posing explosion and projectile hazards. The flying pieces also can cause property damage. Additionally, the mixture of water with the Bath Bombs/Balls or Bath Fizzies can create citric acid. This acid can get into consumers’ eyes when the jars explode, posing a risk of eye irritation.”

The products included in the recall:

• Spa Factory™ Bath Benefits™ Kit3783622876-37836-6

• Spa Factory™ Deluxe Spa Fantasy Aromatherapy Fountain3790822876-37908-0

• Spa Factory™ Spa Fantasy Aromatherapy Fountain3783722876-37837-3

• Spa Factory™ Spa Fantasy Aromatherapy Fountain5489222876-54892-9

• Spa Factory™ Spa Fantasy Aromatherapy Fountain5485722876-54857-8

The recalled product was sold at Sam’s Club, Walmart, Target and other stores across the U.S. from August 2008 through August 2010. The children’s product was sold for between $13 and $50.
