Two Colorado Women Struck by Furniture Delivery Truck, 1 Dead

Centennial, CO– Two women standing near a community mailbox were struck by a furniture delivery truck, leaving one of the women dead on Saturday afternoon, October 16, 2010. The fatal accident occurred in the 7100 block of East Briarwood Drive at around 1 p.m., as reported by KDVR.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office reported that two women were standing near the mailbox when a furniture delivery began to back up on East Briarwood Drive. The truck hit both of the women, killing one and injuring the other.

The rear wheels of the truck hit Margaret Ann Hermansen, 62, practically dragging her underneath.

Responding emergency crews rushed the two victims to Littleton Hospital for treatment. Sadly, Hermansen was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The other victim, a 70-year-old woman, was treated for minor injuries.

Police officials are investigating the fatal accident. No arrests have been made at this time.

It is unknown why the truck driver didn’t see the woman, but the driver is reportedly cooperating with investigators.
