Oklahoma City Crash: Wheelchair-Bound Woman, 60, Hit and Killed in Street

Oklahoma City, OK—A motorist hit and killed a handicapped woman who was crossing the street on Friday, October 8, 2010. The wheelchair-bound woman was crossing at the intersection of N.E. 23rd Street and Martin Luther King Boulevard at around 7 p.m., as reported by News9.com.
According to police officials, a 60-year-old woman, identified as Linda Gibbs, was crossing the street in a motorized wheelchair when she was struck by a southbound vehicle. The motorist reportedly didn’t see the woman until the very last second, causing her to swerve to avoid hitting her, but to no avail.
The woman was rushed by EMSA to the OU Medical Center in critical condition. Sadly, she succumbed to her injuries after arriving at the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle was not cited by police officials.
