Westminster, CA—An 18-year-old high school student was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, September 22, 2010. The fatal crash occurred at Rancho Road near Spa Drive around 3 p.m., as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Westminster police reported that the driver of the Chevrolet pickup truck, 18-year-old Huntington Beach resident Jared Von Grote, lost control of the truck, which caused it to crash through a chain-link fence, overturn and plunge approximately 20 feet into the concrete channel. Officials are still investigation where the driver was speeding or there was horseplay prior to the fatal crash.

When responding emergency crews arrived at the scene, they pronounced 18-year-old Ocean View High School student, Kody Kessler dead.

Grote and another passenger, Kristopher Howell, 18, were injured in wreck. They were both treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
