York County, PA— Two AmeriCold workers were rushed to the hospital after being trapped by machinery early Monday morning, July 26, 2010. The workplace accident occurred at the East Manchester Township shipping and refrigeration company, located at 60 Steamboat Blvd. at around 3:10 a.m., reports The York Dispatch.

According to officials, one worker was seriously injured when a 1,000-pound dock plate trapped the worker. A second worker was also injured, but managed to free the trapped worker. WPMT FOX34, reported that the one of the worker’s head was crushed in the accident.

A dock plate is reportedly “an adjustable metal ramp used to bridge the gap created between a truck and the floors of the dock when a truck had back up for loading at the loading dock.”

Responding emergency crews rushed the men to an area hospital for treatment. One worker was listed in critical condition, while the other was treated and released.

Authorities have yet to release the identities of the injured workers.

Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the workplace accident.
