St. Petersburg, FL—A three-vehicle crash left three people injured on Thursday morning, July 22, 2010. The accident occurred at First Avenue South and 40th Street in Pinellas County, Florida, according to information provided by Tampa Bay Online.

Reports indicated three vehicles, including a Pontiac Sunfire, Hyundai Elantra, and Jeep Grand Cherokee, became involved in an injurious wreck around 10:40 a.m. According to St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue Lt. Joel Granata, the Jeep SUV overturned on impact of the crash.

While details as to how the motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred were scarce, firefighters reportedly had to extricate both the driver of the Jeep and driver of the Hyundai after the accident.

The female Jeep driver, who remained unidentified, was allegedly declared a trauma alert and subsequently rushed to Bayfront Medical Center after the SUV rollover crash.

The female driver of the Elantra involved was also taken to Bayfront for treatment. Her identity was withheld as well.

The unidentified Pontiac driver was reportedly treated at the scene for his/her unspecified injuries.

According to statistics provided by the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) Encyclopedia, created by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were 114 traffic fatalities reported in Pinellas County alone during the year 2008.

Investigations into Thursday’s collision are expected to be underway.
