Sunnyvale, CA— A Sunnyvale intersection was the scene of a fatal accident that left one woman dead and two teenage girls injured. The two-vehicle accident occurred on Sunday, July 11, 2010 around 11:20 p.m., at the intersection of Bernardo Avenue and Remington Drive, as reported by the San Jose Mercury News.

Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety reported a white pickup truck was headed south on Bernardo Avenue, when it collided with a westbound burgundy-colored sedan that was traveling on Remington Drive. The impact caused the pickup to over turn, partially ejecting the driver, whom police believe was not wearing a seat belt.

When paramedics arrived at the scene they pronounced the driver of the pickup dead. Two passengers inside the pickup, whom police believe were wearing their seatbelts, were injured. They were rushed to Stanford University Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the sedan survived the wreck uninjured.

The identities of those involved in the wreck are currently being withheld.

Officials believe speed and a right-of-way violation were contributing factors of the crash.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Investigator Fabian Monge at 408-730-7131.
