Vallejo, CA—A Six Flags Discovery Kingdom tram injured three people in Vallejo Saturday night, July 3, 2010. The accident occurred around 9:30 p.m., when a metal gate swung open and hit the guests, as reported by the Contra Costa Times.

According to officials, a swinging metal gate apparently swung open as the tram, which is used by the park to take people to and from the parking lot, was passing by. Park officials said the gate opened when a guest inadvertently pushed against it.

A 34-year-old man, 2-year-old child and a female adult were injured as a result. The Examiner reported the man was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center, while the child was taken to Children’s hospital in Oakland for treatment. The woman was treated at the scene and released.

The man reportedly suffered some type of protruding injury to his left leg. The girl apparently sustained a cut to her stomach.

The identities of the victims and their current conditions were not released.

A full investigation into the tram accident is currently underway.
