Albuquerque NM Crash: Woman drives car into physical therapy office

Albuquerque, NM—Shortly after finishing her physical therapy session, a woman drove her car through the clinic, injuring herself. The woman ran into the building that houses Southwest Orthopedic Physical Therapy on Wyoming Boulevard on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at around 11:30 a.m., as reported by KOAT.

The woman was reportedly sitting in her car, after she just finished he therapy session, when her car suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb, drove over the parking bumpers and slammed into the building.

The woman was alert and talking before responding emergency crews transported her to the University of New Mexico Hospital for treatment. Her injuries or her current condition was not known.

A man inside the building, who was not hit by the car, complained of dizziness after the accident. He was also hospitalized.

Fire officials were able to drive the car out of the building, as others built and installed supports to keep the building stable until more permanent repairs could be made.

Officials are withholding the identity of the woman at the time. A full investigation into the wreck and what exactly caused her to drive into the building is underway.
