North Fort Meyers, FL—An unfortunate traffic accident took the life of a pedestrian Saturday night, June 5, 2010. The deadly collision occurred as a man attempted to cross Bayshore Road in North Fort Meyers, according to information provided by News-Press.com.

Reports indicated 22-year-old Danielle Hamilton was driving a sport utility vehicle when an unidentified man pushing a shopping cart stepped into the roadway in an attempt to cross Bayshore Rd.

Upon doing so, Hamilton’s SUV hit the pedestrian, sending him soaring through the air and onto the concrete.

Another vehicle driven by 79-year-old Dorothy Cavell then ran over the pedestrian, who was lying in the inside lane of the roadway.

Hamilton reportedly stopped her vehicle after the initial collision, but was subsequently rear-ended by another car, driven by 65-year-old Jane Bedwell. The traffic accident occurred just after 9 p.m.

While the three motorists involved in the chain-reaction crash were lucky enough to escape injury, the pedestrian was not so fortunate. He suffered traumatic injuries, which proved fatal at the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers did not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Investigations continue.
