Salt Lake City, UT—A FedEX truck caused a collision that killed one person and injured two others on Friday evening, May 21, 2010. The Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) reported that the accident occurred around 6:20 p.m., on I-80 near Lambs Canyon, as reported by ABC4.

According to troopers, the FedEx truck was hauling a trailer westbound on I-80 down the canyon, when it crossed into the eastbound lanes, slamming into a Ford Fusion head-on.

The driver of the Fusion, Michael Allen Park, 74, of Sandy was tragically killed on impact. Responding emergency medical crews pronounced him dead at the scene.

It was not determined why the semi crossed over into the oncoming lane of traffic.

The driver of the FedEx truck and a passenger sustained minor injuries in the wreck. They were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently withholding their identities.

Police investigators are currently investigating the fatal wreck. At this time no arrests or citations have been issued in connection with the accident.

Eastbound traffic on I-80 was shut down for several hours while investigations were ongoing. By 10:30 p.m., the eastbound lanes were reopened.
