Sheboygan Falls, WI—A pilot disembarked from the wreckage of his experiential plane with mere bumps and bruises around 11 a.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010. The aviation accident occurred in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, according to information provided by the GreenbayPressGazette.com.

A 53-year-old pilot, identified as Donald Wunsch, reportedly departed from Manitowoc County Airport early Sunday morning. Wunsch contended he was executing standard maneuvers when the single-engine aircraft began to experience engine problems.

While Wunsch had the original intention to land at the Sheboygan County Memorial Airport, that plan seemed out of the question when he could not reach the runway.

The plane came down in a farm field and flipped over when the font landing gear collapsed. The crash scene was located on the east side of Meadowlark Road, approximately a half-mile northeast of the airport.

Though the plane sustained substantial damage, Wunsch managed to exit the aircraft on his own. According to Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Blaine Spicer, Wunsch escaped with minor lacerations and bruises. Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel treated him at the scene.

Authorities from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to conduct a full probe into the small aviation accident.
