Product liability lawyer alert- FDA announced product safety recall of defective horse and poultry feed due to potential health hazards to animal consumers.

St. Louis, MO– Purina Mills, LLC, in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) http://www.fda.gov, has issued a voluntary recall of 50-pound bags of Strategy® Professional Formula GX horse feed and Layena® SunFresh® Recipe Pellet poultry feed due to the potential health hazards they may pose to animal consumers. The FDA announced the product safety recall on Friday, April 16, 2010.

According to the FDA, “The recall is being implemented due to the discovery of metal fragments in a limited number of bags from one of the Strategy® product lots. At the time the recall was issued, five customer complaints had been received.” The recalled horse and poultry feed were produced in Nashville, Tennessee on March 24th and 25th, 2010. The 50-pound bags of Strategy® Professional Formula GX horse feed and Layena® SunFresh® Recipe Pellet poultry feed were then sent to retailers and dealers in Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri and Virginia.

Consumers who have purchased the potentially tainted 50-pound bags of Strategy® Professional Formula GX horse feed and Layena® SunFresh® Recipe Pellet poultry feed have been urged to return the recalled product to the dealer for a replacement product.
