Lufkin, TX—A motorcycle test-drive turned deadly after the prospective buyer collided with an SUV on Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2010. The fatal collision occurred around 3:50 p.m., in front of the Pollok Baptist Church, as reported by The Lufkin Daily News.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that Wesley Paul Hahs, 27, was test-driving a 2007 Honda Shadow with Marion Webb, who owned the vehicle, when the collision occurred. Hahs reportedly passed Webb in a no-passing zone on a blind hill, when Hahs slammed head-on into an eastbound Chevrolet Tahoe, which was driven by a 57-year-old Nacogdoches resident, identified as Jane Chambers. “When he saw the Tahoe, he applied his brakes, but he hit them so hard he lost the ability to steer and hit them head-on,” according to Trooper Clint Henderson. Hahs reportedly died on impact, and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical services (EMS) teams. Chambers, or her husband, James Chambers, 47, who was also in the SUV at the time, were uninjured in the wreck. Police officials are conducting a full investigation into the wreck. The funeral arrangements for Hahs are currently pending.
