School bus rollover injured 6 people in Brownsville, TX

Brownsville, TX—A two-vehicle crash involving a car and a Los Fresno school bus injured five students and the bus driver on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. The crash occurred around 3:00 p.m. off FM 511 and Old Alice Road, as reported by ValleyCentral.com.

The Los Fresno Consolidated Independent School District bus was struck by a Dodge Caliber, causing it to skid sideways across the road, subsequently rolling on its side into a drainage ditch. Police officials stated the details that led up to the wreck are still being uncovered. Five students and the school bus driver sustained injuries in the rollover. All six people were treated for what has been described as “minor” injuries. Emergency medical services (EMS) teams rushed the injured to the Valley Regional and Valley Baptist Medical Centers in Brownsville for treatment. The driver of the car was uninjured in the rollover. The bus reportedly was transporting the students from Rancho Verde Elementary to Villarreal Elementary when the accident occurred. Police officials are conducting a full investigation. It is unknown if any charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
