Auburn, AL—A three-vehicle crash in Lee County left one person dead and injured two others when a Kia broadsided a Chevrolet truck. The fatal crash happened on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 around 5:00 p.m., on Marvyn Parkway just south of Crawford Road, as reported by the Ledger-Enquirer.
Opelika police reported a late 90’s model Chevy pickup truck was traveling southbound on Marvyn Parkway, at the same time as a 2007 Chevy pickup truck was traveling northbound. A 1998 Kia tried to pass the late 90’s Chevy truck and was hit on its right rear side as it was trying to pass the truck. The Kia then began to spin out of control into the northbound lane, where the 2007 Chevy truck hit the car. The Kia was transporting two occupants at the time of the crash. The passenger of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency medical services (EMS) crews around 5:35 p.m. Both of the drivers of the Kia and the 2007 Chevy truck were transported by EMS teams to East Alabama Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Police officials are reportedly conducting a full investigation into the three-vehicle crash. At this time no one has been charged in the fatal wreck.
