Washoe County Sheriff alerts Nevada criminal lawyers- A vehicle crashed into a house and landed on a sleeping couple.

Sparks, NV—Two Nevada college students had quite the wake-up call in the middle of the night of October 21, 2009, when a car crashed through a house into their bedroom and landed on top of them while they were sleeping. A jealous drunk ex-boyfriend is to blame for the horrific accident, which put the couples lives in danger, as reported by CNN.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office reported, Eric Cross is accused of being drunk when he stole a vehicle, and drove in into a house that he thought was his ex-girlfriend’s and her new boyfriend’s. Cross mistakenly drove into the wrong house around 4:00 a.m. instead of crashing into his ex-girlfriend’s house, when he drove into the bedroom of Kristin Palmer and Trent Wood.

Rescue crews worked for almost an hour with chainsaws to release the pinned couple from their beds. Both Wood and Palmer were stuck underneath the car while fluid poured from the car and onto Palmer’s face, leaving him with burns. The couple feared the car would explode with them lying underneath it. After nearly 42 terrifying minutes, rescue teams were able to lift the car up enough for the victims would climb out from underneath the motor vehicle.

Wood stated the bed giving way prevented his legs, and his girlfriend’s whole body from being crushed under the tremendous amount of weight of the vehicle. Cross has been charged with drunk driving, battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving without a license and careless driving for his alleged participation in the crash. The motor vehicle collision (MVC) is currently under investigation by police officials.
