12 Texas students injured in school bus crash

San Antonio, TX—A Schertz-Cibolo-University City school bus collided with a pickup truck, which injured 12 students and the driver of the truck. The school bus wreck happened on Tuesday morning, October 13, 2009 around 6:52 a.m. at the intersection of FM 1518 and Abbott Road, as reported by The Gazette-Enterprise.
According to Bexar County Sheriff’s officers, a school bus traveling westbound on Abbott Road stopped at the intersection of FM 1518, and then began to cross through the intersection when the bus struck the pickup truck. Police officials have not determined who is at fault for the collision at this time. The school bus was apparently transporting 22 fifth and sixth graders when the accident occurred. Twelve of the students were injured in the wreck, and were transported by emergency medical services (EMS) crews to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the pickup truck was also injured in the crash and was transported by EMS teams to a hospital to be treated by doctors and nurses. The school bus was reported on it’s way to Jordan Middle School. Police officials are currently investigating the two-vehicle crash. It is unknown if anyone has been cited for the wreck.
