St. Louis, MO—A fatal crash involving a church van left two people dead and eleven others injured. The tragic three-vehicle crash happened on Tuesday afternoon, October 6, 2009 around 3:30 p.m., at the intersection of Etzel Avenue and Skinker Boulevard, as reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
According to the St. Louis Police officials, a church van with the New Cote Brilliante Church of God was traveling northbound on Skinner Blvd, while a red Chevrolet Silverado was also traveling on Skinner Blvd in the southbound direction. The pickup truck then tried to male a left turn on Etzel Avenue without yielding to the oncoming traffic. The pickup truck slammed into the driver’s side of the van, which caused the van to spin. The truck continued across the street and hit a maroon SUV head-on. Two elderly women were killed in crash; one woman was partially ejected from the van, and another died while being transported by emergency medical services (EMS) teams to a hospital. Seven other injured victims were transported by EMS ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Three occupants of the SUV, and the driver of Chevy truck were also rushed to the hospital by EMS teams. Crash reconstruction investigators were reportedly at the scene of the crash to determine what exactly happened.
