Orlando, FL– A victim lost her leg and was thrown into a lake during a three-vehicle crash, which seriously injured two other people. The serious motor vehicle collision happened Thursday night, October 1, 2009 around 9:00 p.m., on Picciola Road in Lake County, as reported by ClickOrlando.com.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a SUV was traveling southbound on Picciola Road, when the driver lost control of the SUV, overcorrected, and slammed into a northbound van. A nearby motorcycle was hit by a wheel that flew off the SUV, which threw a female passenger off the back of the bike, off the bridge, and into a lake about 25 feet below the bridge. The SUV then hit a guardrail and plummeted into the lake below. The female motorcycle passenger was able to swim to shore even though she lost her leg in the crash, and passerby’s helped her out of the water. The SUV was reportedly carrying two people when the crash occurred. The FHP reported three people were airlifted by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to a local hospital in serious condition. Police officials are conducting a full investigation into the three-vehicle crash. At this time no one has been cited in connection with the wreck.
