Tullahoma, TN—A school bus wreck injured 22 students after the bus landed on its side in a ditch, while en route to school. The school bus crash happened on Monday, September 14, 2009 around 7:00 p.m. along Norwood Creek Road near Winchester, as reported by WSMV.

According to Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, a school bus transporting 25 students to school, rolled over onto its side in a ditch along Norwood Creek Road. It is currently unknown how the bus rolled over and ended up in the ditch. Twenty-two students were injured in the wreck and were transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to Southern Tennessee Medical Center in Winchester for treatment of their injuries. Medical professionals reported 16 of the 22 victims were discharged from the hospital by 10:30 a.m. The students reportedly suffered non-life threatening injures, which included bumps, bruises and scratches. The bus driver was also transported by EMS professionals to the Southern Tennessee Medical Center for treatment. The bus was reportedly transporting students to Franklin County High, South Middle, and Cowan Elementary when the wreck occurred. Franklin County police officials are currently conducting a full investigation into the school bus crash.
