Chicago, IL—A Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus crash left eleven people injured after the bus reportedly hit a light pole. The single-vehicle crash happened on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 around 7:30 a.m., on the 2500 block of South Ashland Avenue, as reported by the Chicago Sun-Times.
According to police officials, the No. X9 Ashland Express bus was traveling northbound on South Ashland Avenue in the Southwest Side, when the bus reportedly hit a light pole. An EMS Plan II response was dispatched to the scene of the collision. A total of eleven people, including the driver, were injured in the wreck. The eleven injured victims were transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The injuries the eleven people sustained are reportedly non-life threatening. According to medical professionals, two people are listed in serious condition, eight are listed in fair condition, and one person is in good condition. The CTA is investigating the single-vehicle accident.
