Chanel files federal lawsuit alleging counterfeiting

Chanel, Inc., a luxury handbag and other goods designer, based in New York, filed a lawsuit against a Las Vegas company for violating Chanel’s trademark. The counterfeiting lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas names Top Modea Purses, Mark Giovanni and two Websites.

Las Vegas, NV–Business litigation lawyers representing Chanel Inc., an international luxury goods designer based in New York, filed a claim in U.S. District Court, in Las Vegas on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Attorneys for Chanel named Marc Giovanni, Top Modea Purses Inc., and two Websites: boutiquelebon.com and boutique-mercella.com alleging the parties were selling knock-off Chanel products, as reported by the Las Vegas Sun.
Channel claims the named defendants are counterfeiting their designer products and selling inferior quality items with the Chanel trademark. Business litigation attorneys for the high-end designer allege the named parties are infringing of Chanel’s trademark through advertising and label copies.
