On-duty Florida Highway Patrol officer injured in Gainesville 3 car crash.

Gainesville, FL(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–An Interstate 75 three motor vehicle collision (MVC) near the Newberry Road exit in Gainesville, involving a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) http://flhsmv.gov/fhp/ trooper, a tractor-trailer and an SUV caused serious injury and damages Monday morning. According to the Gainesville Sun, a veteran FHP trooper hit a guard rail and wedged his patrol car under an 18-wheeler truck.

The northbound I-75 car crash caused the semi-truck to hit an SUV hauling a trailer. The automobile accident blocked two lanes of I-75 traffic for several hours. The officer, Trooper Richard Ornowski, was transported by emergency medical services (EMS) personnel to Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville for the serious injuries he suffered in the car crash. FHP officials state the 31 year veteran trooper was responding to another officers call for assistance in another northbound I-75 motor vehicle accident. FHP continues to investigate the Gainesville area collision.
