New Prairie High School teen passenger dies in commuter train crash.
South Bend, IN (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–LaPorte County WSBT news reported a fatal South Shore commuter train crash, on LaPorte County Line Road 900 East near 700 close to Hudson Lake on Saturday, has left a 16 year-old passenger dead and two injured. According to police, the SUV, driven by Cole Badzinski, slid down a hill and crashed into a passing commuter train.
New Prairie High School student, 16 year-old Jimmy Ashcraft, was an unrestrained, backseat passenger in the SUV driven by Badzinski. According to the LaPorte County Coroner, Ashcraft died at the accident scene from massive multi-system trauma. Badzinski and the unidentified surviving female passenger were transported, by emergency medical personnel, to South Bend Hospital where they are currently being treated for their injuries.
