Cabarrus County Sheriff charges truck driver in Amtrak passenger train crash.

Charlotte, NC (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office criminally charged the driver of a tractor trailer with several violations in the Amtrak passenger train wreck last Wednesday. Frank White Jr., the driver of the truck, abandoned his loaded tractor trailer on railroad crossing tracks last Wednesday, February 4, 2009. An approaching Amtrak train, carrying 15 passengers and crew, crashed into the truck.

Investigators of the Harrisburg, North Carolina train crash determined White violated a crossing signal and caused extensive damage to railroad property. The Amtrak train ripped apart the tractor trailer throwing the truck’s loaded construction debris across the tracks and roadway. The railroad crew and passengers, who originated in Raleigh, North Carolina en route to Charlotte, survived the train wreck.
